Dry Matter Productivity or DMP products are 10-daily images representing estimates of dry matter,
oriented towards agricultural crop monitoring and yield estimation. These DMP-images are very
similar to the NPP products, they are also based on the classical Monteith-model which combines
the remote sensing imagery (NDVI converted to fAPAR) with meteorological data in order to obtain
estimates of the productivity of the terrestrial vegetation. Actually, the only difference is that
the DMP-images are expressed in DgDM/ha/day (DgDM=dekagram Dry Matter) which agrees better with
agrostatistical practices than the NPP-units gC/m²/day.

Multitemporal time series analysis and multi-annual comparisons offer interesting ways for the general
monitoring of the state of the vegetation throughout the year. Under certain conditions (extraction of
regional means, calibration with official harvest data), the DMP-series can be used as indicators for
the final harvest of predominant crops.
